Who should consider a hysterectomy?

Hysterectomy should be considered by all those women who suffer from various health complications that do not respond to any other options like therapies, medication and even other surgeries. When the life quality is harmed and is at risk then hysterectomy should be considered. Uterine fibroids are one of the most common reason due to which this surgery is considered to be performed.

Though these fibroids are not cancerous but they can cause cramping, general discomfort, pain and bleeding. Other reason for this surgery is endometriosis, where the tissues lining the uterus starts spreading towards the outside area of the uterus and leads to miscarriage, cramping, pain, chronic bleeding and even infertility. Uterus cancer or the cancer of the other reproductive system also leads to the consideration of hysterectomy as a way of treatment.

When there is chronic bleeding which results from different conditions affecting the uterus then hysterectomy surgery may also be performed. In conditions when there is chronic pelvic pain which are difficult to treat or for which the source cannot be isolated, hysterectomy is considered as an effective way to get rid from these pains. Besides these there are many other reasons during which hysterectomy is performed and these include uterine prolapse, hemorrhage and others.
