What affect does estrogen have on endometriosis?

Estrogen plays a major role in causing endometriosis. This disease can be said as a completely dependent on estrogen. It generally occurs during reproductive years in women. There are many medications and treatments that help in lowering the levels of estrogen which in turn will help in controlling this disease. In fact, a recent study into aromatase has given evidence about why and how endometriosis continues in women even after hysterectomy and menopause.

In this disease, endometrial cells come out and spread across uterine cavity. This cavity is under the control of female hormones like estrogen. The cells start affecting the hormonal activities and start behaving like the cells that are present inside the uterus. The problem may even get worse with menstrual cycle. There are many symptoms that cause this disease like infertility, pelvic pain and several other factors. All these factors triggers increase in the level of estrogen which them may give rise to endometriosis. Thus estrogen has a great impact on endometriosis.
