Estrogen is known as female hormone and is active element of female reproductive system. LH and FSH are the two hormones that control the production of estrogen hormone either directly or indirectly. Estrogen plays vital role in determining the fertility of the female and specifically the ovulation. Estrogen hormone is very important in first half of menstrual cycle and continues to be so even in the second half.

Deficiency of estrogen can lead to problems such as night sweats, vaginal dryness, hot flashes and frequent headache. Low level of estrogen hormone will affect the feedback mechanism of the pituitary gland and hypothalamus which will create hormonal imbalance in natural menstrual cycle. If such a thing happens then the lining inside the uterus will barely be able to support the pregnancy due to which the ovulation process will not occur at all. If ovulation process does not occur, then eggs will not be released by the ovaries.

This condition is known as estrogen infertility and so proper estrogen level are necessary in the body to promote pregnancy. Estrogen hormone triggers the release of LH which is necessary for triggering the ovulation process. It also helps in building up the internal lining of the uterus so that the egg can get sufficient nourishment and is implanted properly.
