Though vasectomy is known to be a permanent method of birth control but its reversal is possible through a procedure called vasovasostomy. The reversal procedure of vasectomy involves microsurgery where the ends of the vas deferens tubes which were cut during the process of vasectomy are reconnected again. The reconnection of the tubes allows the sperm to join again with semen during ejaculation. Reversal process is mainly done to restore the fertility and few men also reverse the process in order to treat the testicular pain. Reversal of vasectomy is not always successful as it may create a situation where the body stops to recognize its own sperms and even develop antibodies for it. There are various risks and side effects associated with this reversal process. The complications may include bleeding within the scrotum, inflammation causing granuloma, infection at the site of the surgery and damage to the blood vessels and the nerves. Other signs which need medical assistance include difficult urination, marble sized lump in the scrotum, fever, persistent swelling and bleeding from the incision.
